Tennessee Guardsman Charged for Attempting to Hire a Hitman

A member of the Tennessee Air National Guard has been charged with attempting to hire a hitman through an online service that turned out to be fake. The FBI reported that the individual applied on a spoof website called ‘Rent-a-Hitman.’

The Incident

The 21-year-old Guardsman believed he was contacting a real service to carry out a murder-for-hire. Instead, he was engaging with a site designed to expose individuals who might be considering committing violent acts. The FBI became involved after receiving a tip about the online application.

According to the authorities, the Guardsman communicated with the website’s operators, thinking he was making a legitimate request. He allegedly discussed details about his target and provided personal information, which led to his identification and arrest.

This case highlights the dangers of attempting to engage in illegal activities online, especially when dealing with websites that might not be what they seem. The FBI has reminded the public that there are serious consequences for such actions, even if they are made in jest or without serious intent.

The suspect is now facing legal repercussions for his attempt to hire a hitman. The Department of Justice is handling the case, emphasizing that the law takes such threats very seriously.
